Today might be Friday, September 14, but to PC security companies, like Friday the 13th it probably feels. AV-Test.org's latest regularly published results on home security suites have been released, and the vast majority of the best performing suites slipped a full point or more. You can read the report at AV-Test's site. AV-Test looks at three categories in its tests, and scores them each on a six-point scale. Protection gauges how well a suite blocks threats, Repair evaluates how well a suite removes malware, and Usability includes testing for false positives. Eleven points total are required to receive AV-Test.org certification. The organization regularly changes the Windows system it tests on also. statyaanalysis. The previous test was on Windows 7. This test was conducted on a 32-bit Windows XP computer running Service Pack 3, during July and August 2012 and run. The attrition wasn't pretty. Today in the results published, two suites that had passed the previous test, in June 2012 published, failed it this time around. AhnLab V3 Internet Security 8.0 slipped from 11 out of 18 to 10, and Lavasoft Ad-Aware 10.2 dropped 1.5 points to 10.5. More notable, though, was the number of suites that had scored above 15 in June but dropped at least one full point. Three lost two points each: AVG Anti-Virus Free 2012 and Webroot SecureAnywhere Complete 8.0 both crashed 15.5 to 13.5; F-Secure Internet Security 2013 dropped from 16.5 to 14.5. A fourth suite was the biggest loser of them all. Фильм Петрович Через Торрент В Хорошем Качестве here. Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security 2012 and 2013 got shaved by 2.5 points, from 14 to 11.5. G Data Internet Security 2013 got knocked down from 15.5 to 14, and Microsoft's much-touted Security Essentials 4 went from 13.5 to 12.5. Symantec's Norton Internet Security 2012 and BitDefender Internet Security 2012 lost only half a point each, to 15 and 16.5 respectively. Panda Cloud Antivirus 1.5.2 and 2.0 weakened by 0 also.5, to 11.5; and Eset Smart Security 5.2 fell from 12.5 to 12. Meanwhile, a select few held did or steady better than before. CheckPoint ZoneAlarm Free Antivirus Firewall 10.2 treaded water at 16; Avast Free Antivirus 7.0 (2012) and Avira Internet Security 2012 both bumped up from 14.5 to 15; and Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 gained 0.5 to 17, rendering it the top-rated suite by AV-Test in this report. parentstandart read more. Av-Test.org's Andreas Marx emphasized the change in test bed from Windows 7 to Windows XP but also pointed to the way his organization tests software as a possible explanation for the change in scores. With some changes on the average, or the worst or best performing product, the entire calculation will slightly shift. In general, we cannot see any noticeable performance decrease or increase in the test," he wrote in an e-mail to CNET. And Milos Korenko, Avast's marketing director, applauded his company's score but criticized AV-Test generally for using too small a sample set. He explained that while AV-Test tests against 100 samples or so per month, Avast sees more than 500,000 unique infected domains during the same period. While it's true that real-world test results vary according to the particular kinds of infections that are attacking or on the rise at a given time, it's unusual for so many suites from the major publishers to all slip drastically at the same time. It could be as a result of the test computer: Windows XP is a decade-old operating system and has notoriously worse default security than Windows 7. Natalie Severino, Trend Micro's director of consumer product marketing, didn't think much of these results. She explained that the total results for Trend Micro Titanium, as well as several other vendors, are a mix of this and last year's versions, and therefore don't accurately reflect the improvements to this year's model. It also could be as a result of a rise in a previously less-prevalent kind of malware, or an entirely new kind of malware that few of the suites were prepared for. Another reasonable explanation would be that the majority of the suites are now optimized for Windows 7, and people still on Windows XP will continue to suffer ever-greater security-related injustices as their archaic operating system plods along. Азбука Онлайн Для Малышей. What this doesn't mean, though, is that it's time immediately to drop your current security suite. If there were several tests in a row with below-expected results, or several tests at the same time from different test organizations that showed poor results, it could be worth considering a change then. But one bad test does not mean your suite will fail you. teprikaz. Update, 14 at 2 p september.m. PT: Adds comments from several security suite vendors and from AV-Test.

It's WWDC week, and one of the big announcements from today's keynote was Apple's new, homegrown Maps app, which will come baked into 6 this fall iOS. Here, we take a look at Apple's new offering and how it compares to the Google-powered app that it's replacing. Built by Apple from the ground up, Maps uses a vector-based engine that maintains a crisp appearance and seamless rendering, even as you zoom in and out. For context, Google Maps has been using vector-based graphics since late 2010, so while the technology is worth mentioning, it isn't precisely groundbreaking. That said, let's skip the underlying technology and get right to the noteworthy features of the new Maps software on iOS 6. As Android users will attest, navigation is one of the most useful and basic features that a mobile maps program can offer, and until now Apple users had to rely on subscription-based third-party software to get it mostly. Well, with iOS 6, that ends, as Apple's Maps iphone app will offer native turn-by-turn navigation, very much like that available on Android. Инструкция Рено Скеникс'>Инструкция Рено Скеникс. And from the looks of it, iPhone users should be pleased with the finished product. Similar to Android's built-in Google Maps-powered navigation, Apple's Maps lets you type out your destination or simply speak it aloud. Драйвера Ati Radeon Xpress 200M Rs400m read more. From there, the software responds by speaking your directions aloud and displaying your position along the route line on your map. Siri, of course, is the star of navigation as it is her (its?) voice that guides you. Firebird 2.0.5 Что За Программа'>Firebird 2.0.5 Что За Программа. One small, though thoughtful detail is evident when a route includes two quick incredibly, back-to-back turns. In this scenario, Maps displays both directions, so you won't be caught off guard. Google Maps should definitely take this page out of Apple's book. What we didn't see in Apple's Maps was public transit navigation. Генератор Календарей Кряк. For now, you can get transit directions, but no turn-by-turn (or stop-by-stop) navigation like Google offers across hundreds of cities around the world. Google Play's new Family Library lets you share purchases. Google Chrome Завантажити Безкоштовно there. Available will be crowd-sourced traffic data and accident reports also, which you can overlay on your map at will. This feature looks very much like the traffic layer that iPhone users have already been enjoying for some time, though its not clear whether the quality of the traffic data is remarkably different from before. One thing worth noting is, if you get stuck in a traffic jam while navigating, Apple Maps will automatically give you an alternative route and tell you how much time you could be saved by it. 3D Торренты.Стереопары Без Регистрации here. Meanwhile, on Google Maps, you can simply switch routes as well, but it must be done through a menu. In what appears to be an outright challenge to Google and its Zagat ratings, Apple's built-in Info cards will offer local search info courtesy of Yelp. When you tap a point of interest, Maps brings up an Info card with vitals like address and phone number, as well as the ever popular Yelp ratings, reviews, and photos. In my opinion, this is a huge boon for Apple, as I can't tell you how many times I've wished Google had integrated Yelp instead of Zagat. The Yelp community is rich with user-generated content, and to many (including me) it is the go-to source for local reviews. Finally, to no one's surprise, Apple's Maps will also include a 3D imaging component. Based on the demo, Flyover looks pretty much like we all expected. The 3D imaging is crisp, and it lets you zoom, pan, tilt, and rotate around landmarks. One thing it can't do, though, is swoop all the way down into a ground-level street view mode the way Google's product can. For some, this may qualify as a deal-breaking omission, as Google's Street View is a wildly popular and useful feature. Also worth noting is that Google's full 3D functionality was actually announced for Google Earth and not Google Maps, meaning you have to switch applications to get the full experience. This, of course, implies that Apple's 3D Maps experience is merely a lttle bit more seamless. So far, Apple's new Maps software is impressive. It has some stunning 3D visuals, easy-to-use turn-by-turn navigation, integrated Yelp data, Siri powers, and more. While it might not have quite as many features as Google Maps for Android, it is still a huge upgrade over the inadequate Google-powered iOS application that it's replacing. Users of the iPad and iPhone should be jumping for joy. |
